This
was a new and exciting adventure that was a great success.
Our purpose of the trip was to take some nutritious but
yummy dehydrated food to a couple of orphanages near Ensenada,
Mexico. The food is from Canada from an organization
called Gleaners which takes extra food and dehydrates it
into a soup mix, just add water & heat, and some seasonings
if you wish. We went down first to one of our supported
missionaries, David and brought him some food and baby stuff
for him & his new wife & baby. He then took
us to an orphanage which we brought out some of the soup
mix, and gave it to the cook, who started heating it up,
then got a tour of the orphanage and some met some of the
kids. We then took off to another orphanage and did
the same, got a tour and started cooking up some soup.
Here we all tasted some, and I'll tell you what, I don't
like health food, but that soup was incredible. I
wanted more, but its not for me, but the orphans.
We also had some dehydrated apple pieces that we gave to
the kids who fell in love with them. The day was a
little short, because of the 5 hour drive each direction,
but we had to stop on the way out of town for some tacos,
gosh those locals can cook carne asada.
